VentTools turns recurring ventilation installation problems into calculators, setting-out chains and clear records that can be checked before anything is cut or issued.
VentTools was founded and is maintained by a ventilation duct fitter based in Northern Ireland with more than 18 years of practical installation experience. That work has included circular and rectangular ductwork, plant and ventilation systems, fire and smoke dampers, site measurement, material coordination, supervising fitters and solving clashes between drawings and real buildings.
Many site calculations are individually simple but easy to get wrong when the drawing, fitting and builder's opening use different reference dimensions. I wanted tools that give the answer quickly on a phone while still showing the working, assumptions and limits. The offset calculator began with the problem of finding the straight between two bends. The fire-damper tool grew from the more serious problem of keeping nominal duct, casing, clearance, lining and structural opening separate.
General ductwork calculations use transparent geometry and worked examples. Manufacturer-specific fire-damper records are mapped by exact product and tested installation method. VentTools does not deliberately borrow an opening rule from a similar-looking product. If the controlling document does not provide enough information for a reliable calculation, the method is marked for review or disabled.
The current manufacturer IOM, Declaration of Performance, project fire strategy, supporting construction and approved project detail always remain controlling.
The installation guidance is based on problems encountered during real ventilation work, then separated from manufacturer-specific requirements. Photographs on the calculator and guide pages are original site photographs, not stock images. They provide context but never replace the approved drawing or tested installation detail.
